12/14/09

The final grades are now posted. Generally the class did well on the final exam, which is a great way to end the quarter. I enjoyed teaching you this quarter and appreciated particularly the good questions and comments.

Next quarter we will be using the campus web page service, WebCT. It is currently scheduled that you will be able to get a copy of the 100B syllabus and course outline there on or about Dec. 20.

11/30/09

Jordan Gosselin will run a review session for the final, Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 am to noon in CSB 004 (note the different room than usual).

Professor Surko will hold more office hours this week and next. If these times are inconvenient, e-mail him to arrange a different time.

Friday, Dec. 4 ; 2 - 3 pm

Midterm 2 will be Monday, Nov. 16. Remember to bring a blue book. The midterm will cover the course material through "method of images," Sec. 3.24, page 127. A sample midterm is now posted.

 

10/30/09

Professor Surko will be away Monday, Nov. 2 - Wednesday, Nov. 4. Arash Ashourvan will give the lectures on those days, presenting a discussion of the material in Ch. 3, "Special Techniques." Please turn in homework 5 to him on Monday, as per the usual schedule.

During Professor Surko's absence, the graded midterm and homework (including homework 4) can be obtained from Richard Hsu in 2591 MHA.

The midterm will be closed book, no notes, calculators or integral tables (they will not be necessary). It will cover through Sec. 2.3.5, page 90 of the text.

 

10/12/09

Due to a death in Professor Surko's family, the regularly scheduled lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 14 is cancelled. There will be a special make-up lecture on Thursday, Oct. 15, 3:00 - 3:50 pm in 2623 Mayer Hall Annex (i.e., the normal discussion session room). The normal discussion session on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 3 pm will be held as usual.

Professor Surko will hold office hours each week Friday 2:00 - 3:00 pm in his office (currently 4581 MHA, but likely will change to 4302 MH in the near future).

The week of Sept. 28, the discussion session will be Thursday, Oct. 1, in the usual room, 2623 MHA, 3:00 - 4:00 pm. There will be no discussion session on Tuesday, Sept. 29. The normal schedule will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 5.
